Josias Joesler Jewel

The landscape architecture for our international client was designed to harmonize with the historic architecture created by Josias Joesler. The residence is located in the Catalina Foothills Estates of Tucson, Az. The design is beautiful and colorful, emphasizing and softening the areas surrounding the outstanding Joesler architecture. One of the hallmarks of Spanish gardens, borrowed from Persian gardens, is the four-part garden laid out with axial paths that intersect at the garden's center. This highly structured geometric scheme, called the chahar bagh, develops into a powerful metaphor for the organization in this landscape with new paths and central fountain. Custom created  tile, by Lascaux Tile Company, faces the fountain, and was created for this project based on a historic fountain pool in Balboa Park, CA. Maturing Palo Verde trees form a continuous filtered shade canopy under which to sit. The night lighting design makes this an enchanting place to entertain.
